Questions and answers

What size should a YouTube thumbnail be?

YouTube recommends 1280Ă—720 pixels (16:9), at least 640 pixels wide, in JPG, PNG or WebP, and no larger than 2 MB. This tool produces exactly that.

What if my file is larger than 2 MB?

For JPG and WebP the tool lowers the quality step by step until the file fits under 2 MB. PNG has no quality setting, so if a PNG is too large, switch to JPG.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is processed in your browser and never leaves your device.

Crop or fit — which one should I choose?

Crop fills the whole frame and cuts off what doesn't fit; use the sliders to choose which part stays. Fit keeps the entire image and fills the empty space with a color of your choice.
